📷 Instagram | Maximizing our time at Callahan’s Lodge, hot afternoon hiking, camping at a pretty reservoir
Today we all woke up around 6am (wish I could’ve slept in and recovered more sleep after yesterday) and watched some movies (The Hangover and Fast and Furious) and had an all you can eat pancake breakfast. It was fun sitting there eating and talking to hikers as they walked in to Callahan’s from straight off the trail. Most of them were people who had left Seiad Valley a day or two before us, so we knew them from the other day at the RV Park.
After breakfast, we went back to the room and back to watching movies. I had a nice jacuzzi bath (included in the room, next to the TV) and we tried to maximize our time off and recovery. We checked out at noon and started walking. It was hot and all three of us were feeling sluggish. We stopped at a pond halfway through and hung our for a while and smacked until we forced ourselves to get up and start walking again.
Some quality trail right here
We’re now camped at Little Ryatt Reservoir, a little over 20 miles out of Ashland. The reservoir is pretty with the sunset, the mosquitos aren’t bad, and life is good. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and seeing more of Oregon!
PS for my Sierra Camp friends, I passed “Hobart Bluff” today and thought about y’all! Hope SSC has been a blast this summer!!
