Cascade Locks — end of the Oregon section
Cheesin’
Grizz & Parker
After taking over 2 months to hike through the state of California, it was crazy to think that we could get through Oregon in a little over 2 weeks. I had pushed so hard to get through Northern California with lots of long days, so Oregon was a nice change of pace with more rest days and only a couple big mileage days towards the end of the state.
As far as what I think about Oregon, I’ve got mixed feelings. After walking through the state, I view Oregon from south to north as Callahan’s Lodge → green tunnel and mosquitos → Crater Lake → green tunnel and mosquitos → Jefferson Park and epic views of volcanoes → Mt. Hood and Timberline Lodge. There were days that were definitely boring but they were made up for by the beauty of the ridge walks and volcanoes up north.
I’m super grateful and happy to have run into @grizzly_hikes and @projectmove_ last month — we’ve now hiked nearly 700 miles together!! I was an orphan and they took me in, thanks guys it’s been really fun 😂.
I still can’t believe that we only have one state left on this amazing journey. We’ve got about 500 miles left of walking until we reach Canada — and at this point I don’t want the journey to end. Luckily, apparently the best is still to come with amazing hiking and views in Washington.
