CA/OR border — cheesin’ after walking through my entire home state
I’ve spent the last 77 days walking across my home state of California. I’ve seen so many beautiful places and small towns and met so many interesting people, I really gained a new appreciation for how massive and diverse California actually is.
The 20 days I spent hiking through Northern California went by in a blur. Miles and towns flew by — days consisted of waking up and walking all day until the sun set. My mind has transformed, I spend the days with countless thoughts flowing in and out and before I know it the day is almost over.
Although leaving Sierra Camp and Dyl was extremely difficult, being back on trail has been great. Spending the 4th of July with family in Truckee was a great detour, and after all the days off I was ready to start moving quickly. PJ and I said bye after completing over 1200 miles of the PCT together, and although that was a bummer, the week I spent hiking alone was a great change. I had a ton of time to think and reflect on the past couple months on trail and really get my priorities for the rest of the trail straight.
I met @grizzly_hikes and @projectmove_ at Burney Mountain Guest Ranch and have been hiking with them since. It’s been super fun being with a group again and I can’t wait to see what the PCT has left in store. Oregon seems like it’ll be beautiful (albeit filled with mosquitos), but I’m really looking forward to Washington and being in the mountains again! We’ll hike through this state in less than 2 weeks and then it’ll just be a few hundred miles till Canada!!
